Michael Weinert - Brief
Biography (written by Liz Domday)
At the
age of five, Michael Weinert started quarter midget racing
at Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, PA. Racing on both dirt and
asphalt tracks, he ended his quarter midget career in 2007
with more than 140 wins. In March 2008 he had his
first race in the micro-sprints rookie class at Greenwood
Valley Action Track in Orangeville, PA, finishing 10th in
the feature. By May 1st, he was winning almost every race,
moving up to regulars in mid-season.
Although
he did not win a race during the 2009 season, Michael
continued to show his desire to be the best, finishing in
the top 10 for 90% of the races, making the top 5 for more
than 50%. One of the youngest racers in the class, he
finished in the top 10 in points at Greenwood Valley Action
Track in both 600cc and 270cc micro-sprint, and finished
17th in points at Linda’s Speedway in Jonestown, PA, where
he was named Rookie of the Year despite running a limited
schedule.
He may be
a young driver, but Michael has nearly ten years experience
with many lessons learned along the way. He has motor oil
running through his veins, and if he could race seven days a
week, he would. His own biggest critic, after each race he
reviews in his mind every move he made or didn’t make when
he was on the track. He also loves to watch other drivers’
races so he can learn from them.
An
eighth-grade honor-roll student in the Tamaqua (PA) Area
School District, he enjoys playing basketball, baseball and
golf. He is very competitive and enjoys winning whether at
the track or as a part of a team, demonstrating great
sportsmanship and skill in whatever sport he pursues.
Outgoing, energetic, and goal-oriented, Michael’s number one
ambition is to be a successful race car driver.
